well, not really 'new' in the sense of the word, but new enough for those who haven't been following that I've moved on over to wordpress because of issues with blogger.

Blogger had been a pain and wouldn't let me post photos over the past several months. Apparently I didn't switch over things to the 'new & improved' format and now the blog is technologically deficient.
So, I have "moved" to: https://hrhobo.com/
Wordpress' format is a little different but so far, I like it and plan on staying there. I've even ventured into adding video clips to the blog. Some day I'll get brave and speak more on the videos. But I will update post more on days off from my 'paid' employment all that is going on, the animals and our usual chores here on the ranch.
Please follow us on our move over to the new blog and join us on our journey as we work with nature, not against it, and our work to restore, repair and regenerate the ranch's land and ecosystems using methods such as cover cropping, managed grazing of multiple species of livestock and silvopasture techniques. It is going to be quite a ride...
Until next time...

This blog has moved to: https://hrhobo.wordpress.com/ due to blogger not wanting to play nice with the old content so hop on over and continue to follow our adventures.
But here's the Cream of Potato soup recipe... hope to see you at my new blog!
Cream of Potato soup
4-5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2"-1" cubes
1/4 cup finely diced onion
2 tablespoons olive oil (lard works, too)
1 quart whole milk
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 pound pork sausage or chorizo, cooked (optional)
Cook potatoes in enough water to cover them, until soft. Drain the liquid into a separate bowl (you'll use the liquid in your soup) and set the potatoes aside. In a large pot melt the lard and cook the onions until translucent (you can also cook the sausage with onions, if desired). Add flour and then slowly whisk/stir in the milk and potato water. Cook until thickened. Stir back into the soup the cooked potatoes. (If you didn't add the sausage with the onions you can also add it at this point, too.)
Serve with crackers or a nice homemade loaf of bread with butter. You can even top your serving with some shredded cheddar. Enjoy.
